The Role
An experienced materials scientist/ engineering leader is sought to collaborate with talented scientists, chemists, and engineers to develop advanced cathode materials using our client’s unique, exclusive technology. The successful candidate will have a strong background in cathode materials to call upon (industrial experience is advantageous) and a broad knowledge of materials synthesis, chemistry, microstructure, and failure processes. Reporting to VP of Battery Products, this role demands sharp problem-solving, organizational, collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills to enable successful delivery of ground breaking technology to a lucrative, fertile market.

You will:
• Find creative solutions to multiple unique challenges in a fast-moving environment.
• Design and appropriately apply experimentation techniques to harvest necessary data.
• Provide effective guidance and leadership to junior members and the wider team.
• Apply sound communication skills to cooperate across the R&D, process development, and equipment engineering teams as well as with external partners for mutual, ongoing benefit.

The Person
Our appointee is at least a Master of materials science, chemistry/ related and possesses 7+ years’ experience in cathode development including building new materials/ compositions, from R&D to production scaling. This creative, analytical, data-driven individual is adept at setting direction and is proficient in new product advancement processes including phase-gate, product validation, FMEA/ similar. Experience with synthesis of Li-ion battery materials, novel synthetic methods (e.g.: flame pyrolysis) and automotive quality requirements/ product validation are pluses. Boasting strong project management skills and a demonstrable success record, our winning candidate is flexible, ready, and willing to be a player-coach and ensure triumphant, on-budget execution for the brand.
