Role:
They have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Functional Safety Engineer to join their E-Powertrain team. In this role, you will oversee ISO 26262 compliance throughout the product development of electric powertrain systems and drive the following activities:

  • Analyze customer functional safety requirements, negotiate them as needed, and work internally with their Systems engineers and design teams to ensure understanding and satisfaction.
  • Develop preliminary Functional Safety Concepts for customers to foster the development of Functional Safety Requirements. Lead internal and external discussions of Functional Safety Concepts.
  • Lead the development of Technical Safety Concepts for all their products, including Technical Safety Requirements and System Architecture.
  • Conduct safety analyses at the System level for their products, including FMEAs, FMEDAs, FTAs, DFAs, FFIs.
  • Foster and facilitate the culture of Functional Safety within the organization.
  • Support the Functional Safety Manager and Program Manager in the development of Safety Plans and Safety Cases.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics/Electrical/Electronics Engineering

Experience:

  • Expertise in ISO 26262 with applicable experience and a proven track record
  • 5+ years of experience in ISO 26262, with a deep understanding of ISO 26262: Part 4 – Product Development at the System Level.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, with a focus on powertrain applications, inverter, power electronics, and hardware development
  • Automotive product launch experience – nice to have

Key Skills and Knowledge:

  • Expertise in ISO 26262
  • Prior experience with powertrain applications, inverter, power electronics – very desirable
  • Ability to work in a team environment and negotiate solutions with hardware, software, and systems engineering
  • Understanding of project management
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with in-vehicle communication protocols (CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet)
